THE EROTIC PATHWAYS
The Instinctive Erotic Pathway is the pathway of clear, embodied wanting. Desire may be awakened by physical attraction, sexual energy, mutual wanting, initiation, passion and the freedom to express desire openly.
There can be something deeply activating about the clarity of:
I want you. You want me. We both know it.
The Magnetic pathway experiences eroticism strongly through anticipation and the space between people. Desire may begin long before overt sexual activity: a look held slightly longer than expected, anticipating seeing someone, a message during the day, the possibility of being kissed, someone moving slowly toward you, feeling another person’s focused attention, or simply knowing that desire exists between two people.
The Provocative Pathway is the erotic pathway of edge, contrast, experimentation, novelty, intensity and consensual departure from the ordinary. It does not automatically mean extreme, BDSM, reckless, damaged or trauma-created sexuality. The pathway exists on a spectrum, from subtle novelty and role shifts to more unconventional forms of consensual erotic exploration.
THE EROTIC PATHWAYS
THE MIND OF DESIRE
The Psychological Erotic Pathway describes a pattern in which imagination, language, anticipation, mental engagement and personal meaning strongly influence erotic desire. For some people, desire begins with a thought, a conversation, a story, an imagined possibility or the sense of being deeply understood. The mind is not separate from the erotic body: attention, memory, emotion, expectation, learning and interpretation can contribute to arousal and inhibition. The same words that awaken one person may create pressure for another.
For the Connected Erotic Pathway, the important issue is how emotional meaning, relational behaviour and bodily experience interact. Connection can invite erotic openness, but it may also bring uncertainty, vulnerability or a need for space. Understanding the difference requires attention to actual patterns rather than assumptions about how a loving person should behave. The person’s values, preferences, relational context and right to decline remain central.
Multidimensional desire is not simply wanting many different sexual activities. It is the capacity to experience erotic attraction, interest, arousal and pleasure through several forms of stimulation and meaning.
For some people, desire is relatively consistent. They recognise a familiar pattern of attraction and repeatedly return to it. For the Multidimensional person, however, what feels desirable may vary according to emotional state, physical energy, relationship dynamics, life circumstances, sensory environment and personal development.
