TRAUMA & SEXUAL TRAUMA
I work as an integrative trauma therapist, supporting people experiencing trauma and sexual trauma, PTSD, complex PTSD (CPTSD), attachment trauma, dissociation, shame, emotional dysregulation, hypervigilance, anxiety, shutdown, difficulties with trust and intimacy, and disconnection from the body and sense of self.
There is no single way to experience trauma—and no single therapeutic approach that works for everyone. I integrate person-centred and humanistic counselling, experiential therapies, somatic and body-based work, creative arts, IFS, CBT, EMDR, ACT, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Transactional Analysis (TA) and existential therapy, adapting the work to you and what you need.
My approach recognises that trauma can affect the mind, body, nervous system, relationships, attachment, sexuality, identity and sense of safety. Together, we work at your pace to understand how you learned to survive, reduce shame, restore safety and connection, and support meaningful recovery.
sexual trauma and shame can make us feel like we are in a Self contained prison. flashbacks, sexual trauma has a significant impact on the mind, body, and soul. Survivors of Sexual Trauma may struggle with regulating emotions and behaviour, may have difficulty with verbal expression, memory loss, flashbacks, experience intense feelings of shame, and guilt and adapt negative coping strategies.
Creative, Expressive, and somatically based interventions techniques and counselling therapies can alleviate symptoms of anxiety, depression promote a sense of self-empowerment and sexual sovereignty and heal the wounds of sexual abuse by opening the path of healing and recovery.
